Random firewall plug
« on: April 15, 2017, 01:19:25 pm »
I'm trying to figure out what this plug is for. I picked up this gmc c1500 for $200 and now I'm trying to go through everything and fix it up.

Welcome to the site!

That's the electronic spark control (ESC) connector that runs to the ESC module behind the passenger side dash.  If a short harness and mating connector is missing from the distributor, the ESC has been eliminated and the pictured plug can be disregarded.

OK thanks. Yeah I noticed what appeared to be a computer under the dash on the passenger side. Truck was originally a 305 but someone swapped in a 350 which has the one wire distributor.
