Guidance needed
« on: June 03, 2017, 07:25:24 pm »
I noticed my truck kind of made a clunking sound when I turned hard backing out of my driveway the other day. Stopped and got some grease and filled all ball joints, pitman arms and tie rod ends. They are caked in old grease and all were flat. Most seem to be holding grease for now, but for all I know these may be the factory ones from 83 (c10 swb).
Anyway, plan is to drop it in the future and I was going to replace all that then, but due to the condition I was thinking I may need to do that sooner rather than later.
Should I just go to advance and grab up the cheapo ones since I'll be replacing everything in a few years anyway or just hold out until I do my drop and then upgrade everything at the same time?

Have a competent mechanic check your front end parts for wear.  There is really no need to just replace them if they don't need it.

this.

plus if the parts do need replaced dont waste your time and money buying cheapo parts. those parts are important dont go spending $25 bucks on a $10 ball joint that doesnt even have a grease fitting.
