Horn Troubles
« on: June 28, 2017, 12:04:44 am »
I did a search but couldn't find my answer,  The 75 c10 i bought had a rigged up horn button screwed into the bottom dash. It was wired straight from the horn, through the firewall then on to a spade connector on the fuse box.  The horn worked. I wanted to get rid of that hokey set up. I got a new turn signal mech in the steering column. and installed the correct horn relay, there was the connector but someone removed the relay... Now I just need to figure out where i hook the horn itself up to the relay. Im guessing it is on the firewall behind the fuse block. The wires from the relay are Red, Green, and a thin black and go into the firewall. But i see no cut wires or place to connect the horn itself to the relay. Please help.

1975 Wiring Manual

Red is fusible link protected B+ power into the relay, dark green connects to the horn through the firewall bulkhead connector, and black is switched ground that runs up the column to the steering wheel horn button.  The horn button grounds the relay to energize it.  The horn should mount to the front side of the radiator support on the driver side of the radiator with its bell aimed downward to allow water drainage.

Thank you for the info, I have looked at the manual,  I just want to know where the wire from the horn connects, after looking around here, I think there is a green wire hook up next to driver side headlight. I ran the wire from my horn to this connector and nothing. So I tested the green wire connector with a test light and it is dead. Any Ideas?

Do you hear the relay click when you depress the horn button?
