Single red wire on top of sending unit?

How does it attach? 85 swb gmc. Not the ground, it's a single wire and kinda looks like it has a little boot over where it attaches.

85 c10 passenger side fuel sending unit. Trying to drop the tank and not sure how to disconnect it and rather not cut it.

The sender wire should just push down onto a brass pin.  The rubber boot retains the wire and seals the connection.  To remove, simply wiggle and pull upward on the boot

Awesome that what I thought! Looks like it may be original so didn't want to tear it up. Thanks!
