flywheel stock vs aftermarket

are the stock flywheels(manual)transmissions weight different gm vs say centerforce,hays,etc., $119.00 is abig diference than $400 whats so special?anybody really know

Aftermarket flywheel is going to be lighter than stock by about----- ALOT. The lighter flywheel is goig to allow your engine to rev quite a bit faster than a stock replacement because you would have reduced rotating mass.

The counter to that is heavier vehicles need heavier flywheels (or are you really talking about flexplates?)
