Sm465 shifter removal

Press in on on the inner ring and twist counter clockwise, pull the shifter. Am I missing something? I can’t get it to budge, yes it’s in neutral

Sometimes it is rusted and you need to tap the outside of the ring with a hammer and chisel to loosen it up.
