Hello,
I need some help figuring out what's wrong with my TBI. I have a 87 Chevy silverado R-30 crew cab dually. It has a 454 in it that's sick. Here's the problem: I cannot get this thing to go into closed loop, the fuel and air are off.At anytime running, there is 2-3 tablespoons of fuel on top of the butterflies. It wil idle up and down,up and down, when you put it in gear the up/down thing stops, but then engine starts missing and smoke comes out exhaust like it's flooding real bad.I have had the truck for 4 years, working on it as extra finances would allow and time.I have access to a diagnostic computer where I work and have had this thing hooked up to it numerous times testing different sensors and functions and the diag.computer tells me everything is with-in operating peramiters so I'm stuck. To date I have done: All new TBI gaskets,02 seneor, new coolant temp sensor, new coil, new timming set, new dist.plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor button. I have also replaced the IAC,MAP,TPS,and swapped the injectors from a running truck.(these parts were used).
I hook diag.computer up after all this and it does sensor check and says "all ok". I did replace the ECM with one from advance, but truck would only spin over- would not run, so I put my old one back in and she fired right up.I'm out of ideas on this thing.I'm just about ready to sell it,or part it out,or if it wasn't all that much trouble just putting a carb.on this thing and throw that computerized mess as far as I can.The wife says it's been a yard ornament far too long and something needs to be done(lol). I agree, but being the big'ol lang yacht she is,(the truck .......not the wife lol) that's why I bought it.To haul and stuff.Any ideas, solutions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You for your time,
Wayne
