Overall Lengths

I can't find the info about overall lengths of longbed trucks vs suburbans. Some sites say they are within 3 inches of each other and some say suburban is shorter than a c20 even. Seems to me like suburban would be a good bit longer than a pickup. Been looking at a couple of 2wd suburbans here and there and I need to know how much longer they are than my 78 c20. I'm looking at 77-79 suburbans. Want to know if it will fit in the garage. Just need overall length. Thanks!

While I'm thinking about it, what's the weight difference between a 78 C20 and a C20 Suburban. The 78 C20 I have weighs about 5,100 lbs. It's got HD springs, 350/400 and kind of middle of the road option wise.

Look at the Seventh generation (1973–1991) section. Right hand side under dimensions.

Couldn't get the link to go directly to this. Need to click on "
Did you mean: Chevrolet C/K (third generation)

Looks like a 1980 or older fleetside/longbed is 211.4in or 5,369mm long while the short bed is 191.5in or 4,864mm. I knew the short beds were shorter, but not 20in shorter! I was thinking about cutting out and rewelding no more than 8in of the bed and frame. Maybe 10!
The 1981 and newer C10s are a tad bit shorter up front I believe and more aerodynamic because of the tapered in design of the front clip. Correct me if I’m wrong on the front end lengths tho anyone. That’s how I remember it, but looking up the lengths on Google shows me that even the post-1980 C10s are 211.4in and 191.5in, so I could be mistaken.

Forgot to say: The Suburban is a whopping 219.1in long, just a tad longer than the long bed C10.

Sorry for the slow reply---i've been interested in this lately as well. i think a van-chassis with 8 foot bed would be a good combo due to a shorter length, but that's a topic for another thread.
According to the gm heritage sheets:
For 83 overall lengths:
shortbed 191.9"
longbed 211.8"
crewcab 244.8" too long imo
suburban 219.1" 1/2 ton 2wd 4320lbs. 3/4 ton 2wd 4706lbs.

83 blazer 184.8"
van-----short 110 wb 178.2" !!!
Long 125 wb 202.2"
i don't know about now, but back then you could get a 3/4ton van in a short wb----so a 3/4 ton truck with a length of 178"!
Like i said, lately what's turning me on is the idea of a van cuttaway chassis with a 8" or even longer pickup bed. This way you get can kind of a crew cab and 8' bed without such a long length. i think they started doing this in the rv world.
i know we're hijacking at this point, but check out this fascinating link:
