Does anyone know if the front drive shaft off a 1986 half ton suburban will fit on my 1979 k20 truck

Do they have the same transmission and xfer case?
If they are the same, I don't think the distance between the case and diff would be different.
BUT, I have known to be wrong...
Just looked, they have the same u-joints, 1/2 ton to 3/4.
