After 7 years, I'm back!
« on: September 08, 2024, 07:58:27 pm »
Hello again, everyone! I haven't even been lurking since my '84 C30 was totaled in 2020. Just picked up a '78 C10 Suburban this morning! Going to be my main camping rig for the family and tow rig for my '78 Camaro drag car. Just wanted to say hi and I'm glad to be back.

It boasts the look of saltwater taffy.   ;)

I wish I could keep it long term, but the wife wants it painted. And what she wants, she gets. I'm lucky enough that I got it without having to convince her. Just going to scuff it and do a rattle can job while we get the interior up to snuff. Then it'll get blown apart and get painted "properly".

Plans are to have the rear 60/40 seat redone, swap the front bench out for modern buckets with a jump seat/console, headliner, re-wire the whole thing, digital dash. That's plenty to keep me busy for a while.

I love the look.  Would be cool to leave it as is but the smarter move is to keep your wife happy.
Any pics of the camaro?.
What are the drive train specs on both of them?.

Well, the wife is staring to like the ratty look! I think she's going to let me keep it for a while.

I'm in the Phoenix Valley. The pic was taken in Eloy when I got it.

The '78 'burb has a rebuilt 454 with 75k miles on it. Hughes TH400 with matching torque converter. Has 3.42 rear gears, 3/4 leaf springs, and manual air shocks that don't seem to leak.

The '78 Camaro has a 383 of unknown specs ;) , Hughes TH350, 4.10 gears, mini-spool. She's known as the Duct Tape Camaro.
