1974 k1500 transfer case

I cannot get it to lock into four high it will go in four low but as soon as i get into the throttle it jumps out of four low. It is not full time four it does have hubs. Any info is appreciated.

Has she ever been run low of fluid? Or is it just plain worn out?

check the fluid for sure...should be 10/40 filled to the plug...it sounds like the chain may be jumping. They tend to stretch out after afew...10...20...years.
