« on: January 15, 2007, 07:49:00 pm »
i have a 1986 k10 that has a 208 transfer case and when i shift into 4wd the truck pops out at random the truck has been doing this since i bought it 5 years ago. is there any kind of fix for this besides the ratchet strap i have around the shifter?

One of two things.
(1) adjust the shift linkage underneath
(2) it could be something internal, but if its been doing it for 5 years I would guess the first thing.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

i dont think it is something internal i had it rebuilt about 2 years ago and it only has around 20k miles on it. but it could be the linkage so how do i need to go about adjusting it?

Underneath the rod that goes from the shifter to the case is adjustable.get it freed up, then pull it up into 4 hi, get underneath and adjust it so it shifts into 4 hi farther.
