Well, we are helping the environment by using these old vehicles....no need for factory polution, steel manufacturing, etc, etc building new trucks.

But I agree, keep the smog stuff on them as much as possible.  I hated to do it in a way, but I kept my egr, cat, charcoal cannister, exhaust mainfold valve, etc. on my new 383 when i put her in it.  By putting a new engine in it, no minimal smoke goes into the atmosphere due to burning oil etc.

But keep the cats on.  There is a federal law.  Whether it is enforced or not is beside the point. My children and grandchildren (in the future) will need to breathe.

Stepping off the podium now.....

I have a new Magnaflow high flow cat on the way that I can clamp on since my factory cat is clamped on, it's a direct fit. Plus it is smaller than a football and has the honeycomb shell in it so it'll flow a heck of alot better than the stocker clogged up peice of junk. The factory cat is huge man, what a piece of junk.

I'm as much for clean air as anyone. I'm also installing a hi-flow cat for better sound from my cat-back duals. Nothing compares to a low rumble. The need for oil energy and internal combustion engines are going to be around for a quite awhile longer, like it or lump it and I, for one, don't buy into America being the world villian of pollution. The opposite is true that we indeed lead the world in technology and indeed if there is so-called global warming, we will be the leader in the solution.
