power windows redux
« on: September 24, 2006, 09:32:00 pm »
i posted on this awhile back, but i am still fighting it.  i installed power windows on my '80. i used a used harness and regulators.  on the passenger side the window will go down with the switch but not up. it is a new switch. it gets 12 volts to the motor going both directions. i have tested this. i can get the window to roll up by using a "pigtail" i made from a conector and wire from another truck. i hook this pigtail to the window motor and use jumper cables straight to the battery. it will roll up and down by reversing the wires to the positive side and negative of the battery.
thanks for any ideas

Check the harness connector to make sure it is making good contact with the switch.

Sounds like the some of the wires are not right or not enough power I had the same problems when adding them to my 76 and also check the connections are the switch hookups because i also had that happen where i had to resolder the connectors back on the wires.

well i finally figured it out.
i ended up taking the wiring harness back out of the truck and chasing down all the wires again. i found that two wires were crossed over in one of the plugs.
thanks for all the suggestions.
