I was wondering if anyone was gonna post something here about Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (AKA: VPI, aka; Va Tech).
Living in Va, I know a few people who went there years ago. One of my ole High School chums, a Va Tech grad, was there just last month visiting. I emailed them and most are just in shock and are worried about the great name of the college being remembered by some stupid act of a crazy animal, rather than the great university that it is. In the Richmond news, many who graduated HS around here lately currently go there and two who went to the high school near me were injured badlly.
It is such a horrible thing that happened. What bothers me is they are already talking about the gun laws here in Va. The gun laws are fine. This creep bought a Glock 17 legitimately(I have one too--as welll as Glock 20 /.40 cal and and Glock 23/.40 cal). The Glock 17 has magazines which hold 17 rounds, plus one chambered=18 rds. He filled out the criminal background form and passed. You cannot buy more than one gun within 30 days here in Va. That is fair. What's next? not being able to buy a gun at all!!!! The laws are fine. The ones who break the law couldn't care less about the laws of purchasing a gun....they will get one anyway.
Why punish the law abiding citizens? What more laws will do is put less guns in the hands of law abiding citizens and more in the criminal's hands...cause they dont care about the laws. I myself have 8 handguns and 4 rifles. I am not unusual around here. It is a nice, fun hobby going to the shooting ranges and keeping my skills up. It is a fun way to spend an afternoon. I am one of only a few who are Master Firearms shooters at my Sheriff's dept--qualifying annually around 99.8 to 99.9%. Some people collect records or radios, or china or whatever. I enjoy my gun collection. Each one is different. It is nothing to go through 300-400 rounds in an afternoon. These city slicker tv reporters are saying it was terrible to be able to buy a box of 50 bullets. Ooooohhh, so bad. BS!!
I wish so badly I was there in Norris Hall w/ one of my Glocks---God i wish I could've been there. More citizens need to be armed to keep the playing field level.
These democrats are going be throwing this thing in everyone's face for quite a while. Missing the real point.....why are non-citizens who are here in this country able to have all the rights of bona fide US citizens?
? Heck, he probably had free tuition too. More restrictions on people who follow the law is not the answer. If certain people had their way, the only ones carrying weapons will be the criminals who don't care about the laws. That will spell the end of life as we know it. Criminal Field Day will result.
I'm sorry for this rave, but, this bothers me. All of those promising bright young individuals died for nothing. They were very smart, you have to be extremely smart to get into that school--in fact, the valedictorian from my high school class went there----- and to be rewarded by being killed is incomprehensible.
Go HOKIES!!! My thoughts are w/ ya.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims.
SgtDel I know what you are saying about the news people....when a similar thing happened here in Jonesboro several years ago we were inundated with media. One crew went into a sporting goods store and asked the manager if they made a practice of selling "sniper attire" to kids, what they were talking about was Mossy Oak and Real Tree.

Guns don't kill whack job losers do! You want to kill yourself have at it, why do they want to take others that don't even know them with them?
I love it when people / media talk about how kids can get a hold of guns because their parents have them. Bull, my father was a machinist / tool and die maker / gunsmith, I grew up with an average of 400 handguns / long arms etc. in my house. Not one was ever locked up unless you consider the doors being locked. Further more my mother became a police officer when I was in 3rd grade, overnight I became an outcast and suffered mental and physical attacks from kids my age up to seniors in high school. I got in many fights because of this. My old man always told me you better not start a fight, but you dang sure better be the one to finish one! I had the typical thoughts of would like to kill them, blah blah them being the ones who tormented me etc. not innocent bystanders, never did I ever seriously contemplate taking a weapon to school etc., and actually carring out something this ha nous. One reason was it was not right thinking. Another real good reason was if I ever touched one of those weapons for any reason with out his supervision my old man would have killed me. I feared my parents and thats how it should be. I don't think we would have half the problems in this world today if kids were afraid of their parents, instead of the parents being afraid of the law because of some bleeding heart liberals. I own a small collection of guns including two custom made rifles my father built.
Back in 98 I used a Glock 9 mm to defend myself and my friend from four guys they attacked my friend on his front porch. Three of which were known dirt bags, one on parole, his teenage brother, out learning the ropes of being a dirt bag form his brother, one just a local dirt bag not wanted or on probation at that current time, one wanted in Louisiana for armed robbery, forgery, and an attempt on a police officers life. He was the only one to get arrested that night. Was supposed to be extradited. Judge let him out next morning on $100 cash bail. The thought of beating them crossed my mind but one was a teen, the one on parole had just come out of a three week coma after a rollover accident the day after he got out of jail. I his head had been shaved and he had head surgery, I could still see the stitches from his jaw to the top of his head. I opted to pull my 9 and scare them off. It worked, they split double time. A month later my friend who got a broken nose and his ass kicked in the incident got arrested for mutual combat. My permit to carry was taken, they wanted my guns but they were moved to a safe location while I was making bail, so when they came to get them I didn't have any. etc. I was arrested for criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, class A felony, up to 15 years in prison! I fought it for almost two years, day before my court date the state dropped all charges against me. My friend was found not guilty. It took me a year to get my Glock back as they took that the night of the incident, One of the sites was broken off it and it was in a plastic bag in pieces. For about five years if I got pulled over for speeding or a light out, the officer would sit in his car and wait for a second officer to show up before he would even approach my vehicle. Then the first question was " Do you have any weapons with you? " I exercised my right to defend myself and was punished for it. I agree gun laws are not the answer, enforcing the laws that are already there is. Oh yeah and close the borders. I know this country was founded on the melting pot theory but our ancestors didn't come here to be scum bag losers. They came here to make their lives better, to work not leach off the govt., and enrich this great nation.
I am sorry for the long rant but this stuff really ruffles my feathers.
I am not a religious man but I pray for our boy and girls in uniform, now I pray for the families left behind because some loser had a bad day and decided to take out innocent people before he killed himself.

Every District Attorney in this nation (Commonwealth's Atty for the Commonwealth of Va) are ELECTED. I hope they are watching that DA from where Duke University is located, how he might get disbarred for his handling of the so-called rape case by the lacrosse team.
I say this because there are media outlets when injustice is done. Write your paper, tv news, whatever to tell your side. A bona fide reason for displaying a weapon, versus firing it, is as a deterent. It is almost as if you HAVE to fire and kill someone to prove your point. Else, the other side will tell their side, and of course, it will be much different that your side of the confrontation. That equals criminal charges just from "he said, she said".
Possession of a weapon is now a taboo. The media helps reinforce this.
I am sorry, but these problems of mass executions did not happen in the old west when everyone had weapons. Today's society is such a paradise for criminals. They aren't worried about getting shot. Why? Because these dang politicians feel they must react to every situation with new laws....again, these laws only effect citizens who abide by the laws, not the criminals. Criminals everywhere are laughing and rejoicing.
More citizens, not less, need to carry weapons to level the playing field.

Every person has the right to life and the defense of their life and justly acquired property. These are not “privileges” granted by government they are inherent natural rights. When someone becomes destructive of those rights you have the right to defend yourself from that destructive person no matter whom they may be or what kind of fancy hat they wear. I do not respect an elitist government official who tries to deny my rights nor do I obey them. We are governed at our consent and I do not give my consent to government who systematically attempts to destroy my rights. For more info see here:
http://www.jonathangullible.com/mmedia/PhilosophyOfLiberty-english_music.swf
As soon as Americans wake up from the propaganda induced sleep they have been absolved in for the past century and realize that our government is only as powerful as we say it is then this sort of thing will be an occurrence of the past. If government will not obey the people then the people should abolish that government by whatever means necessary and institute whatever type of government that will respect and protect the natural rights of the people. I think that the Constitution says this but not many people read that document these days and it shows. Why don’t parents teach their children these facts any longer? Instead they send their children out into the world to become prey for lunatics and bad government. Any government official that will support “gun control” schemes is nothing but an enemy of the people and a traitor and should be treated as such. Wake up America…….

First off I want to say prayers go out to the families and friends, of the victims. And I want to also agree with the statements about gun control laws, if there are more law abiding citizens with concealed weapons permit maybe criminals would think twice about shotting someone and getting shot themselves. I would also like to add a link to show how dumb some of the people making gun laws are. This link is an interview with Mrs. McCarthy's and her definition of a barrel shroud, and she wants to regulate/ban our guns.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rGpykAX1fo
If you can't use it as a link copy it and paste it to your browser and watch it. She has NO idea what a barrel shroud is but she wants to ban them.......

We had one just up the road some time back in Paducah, Ky. where a kid that went to the school killed I think three kids and wounded some. It has been about 4 or so years back and can not remember all the information. You never heard of this type of things when I was in school. But now you are talking back in the late 50's and early 60's.
