Bed hoist? Multi-mount winch ideas?
« on: June 05, 2007, 03:38:59 pm »
I have a Crew Cab on 37s that will be a dedicated trail clean up truck. I am looking for ideas on how to hoist things into/ out of the bed.

I have seen simple "cherry picker" things that you can bolt to the bed that have a jack and hand crank on them. Any one have one? Any good?

I will also have a multi mount winch that I could run for this set up with the right design. Anyone have ideas? Pictures? on how to do this?

I would like to be able to use the winch in the back of the truck for lifting things into/out of the truck but also for rear recovery, pulling things onto a trailer etc.

Thoughts?

You could fabricate something like this that mounts to the rear corner and mount the winch to it:

My grandfather had something similar to this in the back of his '73 for the longest time, but it wasn't collapsible though, it was a 90 degree pole that swiveled.

Here is on on craiglist for $1: http://appleton.craigslist.org/tls/318927153.html

just found this, stores in the bumper:

I have one similar to the first one but the winch is on top. The arm is colaspsable but I never bother, I just snug the cable up to an attachment point. The cable goes up and over a pulley on the end of the arm. The arm is also adjustable three positions. 2,000 lbs, 1,500 lbs, 800 lbs all the way out. I am in the process of fabricating an adjustable leg for the rear bumper of my truck. I have hung a full dressed 454 of it no problems.
