1975 4X4 Scottsdale ***Help***
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:17:52 pm »
Okay,
I'm buying this 1975 Scottsdale and there is something I need help with.  Did they make a 1 ton in 1975?  The emblem on the side is a K30 emblem.  I started looking and there was no 1 ton made for chevy that year.  The VIN says it's a 3/4 ton.  Autozone said there was no listing on their systems for 1 tons in that year, and Schucks says there is on their systems.  It's hard to find any info, but I did find something listed as a 1 ton on cargurus.com.  Same tow tone red/white color and model.  And the emblam on that truck says it's a K30 as well.

I'm so confused.  The guy that I'm buying it from is an older guy that's had it for 3 years, and was under the impression it was a 1 ton, and I don't think he's trying to lie to me.  It does not have the original engine in it either.  It's a beefed up 454.

So anyway, bottom line, I don't really care if it's a 3/4 ton or 1 ton.  Either way it will do just fine for towing the boat, etc.  I just need to find out what the heck it is so when I order parts for it, I can order the right stuff.  The truck is in really nice shape, the engine is sweet, I just want to add the final touches.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

There wasn't a 1 ton 4x4 in 75.  What is the VIN?

Okay, I think I just found my answer to this.  The TH400 was not an option until 1977.  So my next question would be will the 454 mount up to the TH350 without a problem?  And if so, will that combo work out okay?  Just trying to make sure I don't buy something that is going to be a mess.   Thanks....

TH400 was available in 1975, but a 454 will bolt up to a TH350.
