Bowtie heads are they any good?

I got a oppertunity ot purchase a set of chevy bowtie heads and intake for 1,000 OBO are they worth buying for my 350? If i wanted to make it a 383 are they gonna be ok with the stroker kit? Th e 350 i got that came with the truck is a 1985 from a conversion van and it has been rebuilt with a lumpy cam but of course i gotta have more power  AR  AR  AR  MO POWER lol...  But any and all info  is greatly appreciated.Also the heads have been reworked some and there is no carb so just trying to get some info if i should do this or not.

They are good heads as mentioned in the links listed but for the price of $1000 you have many other choices, so for the cost a 'deal' I would not call them. Decide what you want and/ or need and focus on a set of heads for your purpose. There are some good heads available brand new starting around $500- $600 set.

Those are good iron heads, they are angle plug heads 2.02/1.60 with 64cc chanbers with 184cc .  Here is the new phase 3 version and they are listed at $349 (probably apiece) but still cheaper than the $1000.

Maybe I just don't trust people, but I would have a hard time taking someone's word that the heads have been re-worked, haven't been run low on oil, haven't overheated, haven't been raced with NOS, the list goes on.  I have seen too many people get taken advantage of when buying used engine parts.  Unless the guy selling them is an engine shop and he is going to back them up with a warranty, I would steer clear.  A thousand bucks is a lot of money.

I take apart my heads when I get them back from my machine shop even to make sure they didn't get thrown together half fast (again), so I trust no one. I buy my heads bare and NEW and piece them together to match what I'm building. I have taken apart too many motors apart a second time trusting other peoples work or word.

Had a set of angle plugs on my Vega back in the early 80's along with an Edelbrock Tunnel Ram w/Holley Carbs, always a challenge to change the spark plugs as it had a Don Hardy Race Cars kit with headers. I would think it just depends on the direction you want to take with the truck, more old school or aluminum heads that are begging to be externally polished. Are you thinking of running the tunnel ram as well or sell it to recover some of the cost?

I could do that and try n recoup some of the money from the package deal.He is also looking for trades for big block stuff.I got some stuff i really dont know what to do with.Think it be worth throwing hi ma offer for all the big block stuff for this setup? I got a 68 396 shortblock a set of 049 big block heads, the 402 block, a aluminum timing chain cover, a seto f valve covers and a complete big bloc ka/c bracket setup.

If you think there worth a even trade i amy offer it to him and see if he bites..

p.s.s i would go for a polished air gap intake in replacing this tunnel ram which i heard are a pain in the rear to get them both to run properly
