1977 K20 camper special
« on: March 17, 2008, 10:21:43 PM »
Just bought my first older chevy.  It has a 396 big block, Auto trans, and a lot of rust in the foot wells.

THE BEST WAY TO FIX THAT IS.............................. TAKE THE ASHTRAY OUT AND DRIVE IT DOWN HERE TO S.E.TX AND HAND ME THE KEYS ;D ILL TAKE "REAL GOOD CARE OF IT" AND AFTER ABOUT A WEEK YOU CAN COME BACK WITH A TRAILER AND PICK UP THE PIECES (MINUS THE ENGINE)

Well I plan on welding in new metal for the rusted areas then I want to do a 6" lift and as big of tires that will fit.  hopfully  36x12.50.  I all ready have 33x12.50x16.5R.  A lot of other topics say they wouldn't fit stock.  Why do they fit on mine?

If you already have 33's on it, you should be able to fit 36x12.50 on it with a 6 inch lift. I have a 4 in BL on my 85 k10 with 36x12.50 super swampers on my truck and still have room to spare

Welcome from New Hampshaa! I have had a few trucks over the years that took 33x12.5s stock without any problems, even mild wheeling they didn't hit.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Welcome from AL. I put a 396 in my 79 that originaly came with a 305 25 yrs ago. Man, that thing would pull. Closed chamber heads, 10 1/2: 1 compression... Sold it in 89 and regret it to this day.

My 75 has been to AK and back 3 times towing a 22' airstream, it belonged to my uncle then. I told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it to let me know... had it since 1990.

Anyway, join in and have some fun.

Well my 396 BB came out of a 1967 chevelle SS, it's been rebuilt with hydraulic roller, rockers, and cam.  the truck is a long bed but I am entertaining the thought of making it a short bed.
