exhaust question
« on: October 02, 2002, 12:18:00 PM »
I recently acquired a 1976 C-10 longbed truck with the 250 6 cyl motor and the three speed on the tree standard gearbox.Due to lots of floor rot ( ok this truck has a serious case of lepracy) the engine pipe on the exhaust has split, and i will be  putting in new floorboards. Once i do this, i will need to replace the exhaust system. Ive been to two different auto parts houses, and neither of them have a listing for the exhaust system for this truck. This truck does not have a catalyctic converter on it , and the only listings in the Walker book  are  for a 1977-1979 6 cylinder without catalyctic converter. Will the same system  from a 77-79 truck  fit on my truck?

just go to the nearest exhaust shop if you have one........if not it will clearly state in the books what year and application the exhaust will fit.

ive been to a couple of auto parts shops and non ( believe it or not) have books or discs goibng back that far   the book i got the info out of  for the 1977-79 truck is a Walker book in the local non chain store  auto parts place.   Places like Midas  or Monro wont give me parts, or numbers, unless i let them install them. The exhaust of the 1977 truck will be my cost ( complete ) $164.00   if i let a shop like Midas do it  the cheapest is $418. I simply cannot afford to let the shop make that much money on me
