Adding Clutch pedel to a 2WD CAB???
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:09:44 pm »
OK so I have a 76 GMC K15 and I have a C20 donor truck. The donor trucks cab will be replacing the rusted out hulk on my K15. My question is how hard and also how do you install the clutch pedel in the new cab?? The C20 is Automatic and the K15 is a 4SPD

Thanks Guys.

You will need to drop the column down, There are two nuts outside the fire wall that clamp the column, plus the sheet metal plate and gasket one that close up the hole through the fire wall, and the two nuts up under the instrument cluster. Unbolt the vacuum booster, plus the two nuts right below the booster. Undo the brake booster rod from the brake pedal, unbolt the pedal bracket from the dash, and it should drop right out. As for the standard you will need to disconnect the clutch rod. To make it a bit easier I usually slide the pivot bolt for the pedals out as well. One long bolt that runs through the top eye of the brake and clutch pedals. What year is the C20? If its an 81 ,82 ish or newer the nuts under the booster, and the ones holding the booster on will be metric, & won't interchange with the older ones. Are you swapping the auto column out for the standard one? If so you might have to move a few of the wires in the wire harness connector on the new column to match up with your trucks plugs. On the floor if you look real careful you will see three little dimples the out side two are where clutch rods rubber boot screws are supposed to go. You will need to use a hole saw the make the hole for the clutch rod using the center dimple as you pilot hole. You will also have to cut the floor center section out and replace it with the bolt in section from the 76 cab. I use the tape that is made to run under the edge of metal roofing to seal one to the next under the center sections and use self large tapping screws with built in washers and rubber washers to hold down the center hump.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
