New from Texas Chevy Truckin ~
« on: July 22, 2008, 12:29:32 am »
Hello all!

I'm very interesting about classic Chevy Trucks, I'm glad found here and signed up. I'm 40 yrs old hearing impaired Cherokee Indian man but I can read lips, talk, write and sign language, I can listen to the music well but I don't understand with the voice speaking well, no problems, I loves Country music! I added "NDN" go with my user name because I have some of Cherokee Indian blood from my mother and half French from my father.  ;) I just look Indian than French. My hair (black/some gray) is longer over the shoulders, I move my hair on the back and brace it like pony tail. Sometimes darker brown skin when hot weather is coming out. I don't like too hot outside, I keep in shade often.

I bought a 1984 GMC Sierra Classic 1500 (last 2 months ago) 1/2 Ton, SWB, rebuilt 1987 350 .30 bored over, 4 bolts main - (I don't know for sure yet) that engine came from '87 Blazer Jimmy 4X4, original 350 turbo auto. trans., factory duel gas tanks, factory without power windows & door locks, she had factory bright red body, now it's medium red and original red interior, factory without engine computer (last year w/o engine computer TBI). It has factory Q-Jet 4 barrell Carb., stock aluminum intake mainfold came from 1984 Camaro/Firebird 305 V8 5.0L, I got stainless steel headers off eBay last 1 & 1/2 week ago, I'll put them on my Truck by this Fall. My friend will put on stainless steel 3" duel exhaust system and 40 series Flowmaster muffler for free, 'cause he's my best friend for 7 yrs. She has new 60 series BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (I'm mistakes, I should get four 70 series next time). I'll get 15X8 1/2" aluminum American Racing wheels (like Cragar SS style) by next year. In the future I'll paint her 2 tone white and medium metalic blue (white roof and bottom white sides) and reproduction new dark blue/blue interior, then I'll paint medium blue rubber (1/4" serface) on the bed, not under. That'll help to protect from the rusts growing back in the future and then rust proof undercoat black paint, just for under bed only but will paint shinny black on the frames, rearend (with chrome cover), leaf springs, front coil springs with upper & lower arms, sway bars, joints, inner fenders and radiator support will look great. I'll do a lot of custom job on the engine later.

This is my baby and me.  ;D

Welcome to the site!
To answer some of your questions,
The block ID that you linked is 14010203 = 1980-1984 305, NOT a 350.
The 27 number near the distributor is cast into the manifold, so you need the actual casting number to tell what the manifold id from.
If you want to know specifics about the block, you need to get the info off the front of the motor where the head doesn't cover up the block.  If the engine hasn't been decked, you can find out exactly what year it is from and what application (if it matters to you)

It looks like the paint is just faded, you can probably get it back shiny with some buffing/waxing.  (unless the pictures are deceiving.)

Well ya got the Texas welcome. Now welcome from the white mountains, New Hampshaa!
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Thank you for warming welcome me to this site and thanks for answered me about that bro.

You're right The block ID that I linked is 14010203 = 1983 305, NOT a 350.

I can't finding the engine id number on the front of the block by left head, mine is late model engine that don't have one but I found on the front and under of the engine on the driver's side engine block stamped "305"

1.) Face to the front of the engine:

2.) I took picture up side down, easy to read that stamped "305" (that's too funny up side down stamped on that engine block from the Factory, LOL)  ;D

The body paint has tinny rust spots all over the body, so I sanded the rusts off and sprayed "Rust Tough RTA 9204 Ruddy Brown Primer". My Truck is a project but she's in a VERY good shape, never been wrecked. I'm working on her sometimes. I don't know when my Truck will be ready to paint job but I'll let yall know when she's done.  :)

Hello Texan Truckin guys and Blazin from the white mountains, New Hampshaa is very cool!

Thank you all guys for warm welcome me, I'm appreciate it. :)
