i think the other thing is that you can usually tell when a tire is going bad by feel-----if it starts vibrating strangly or starts making noise, it's probably going to go--pretty soon.

i can't see a tire, just because it's 5-10 or more yrs old just going in an instant without any warning.  Although, like people, i suppose it has and does happen(like with ford).   But the more decent quality tires should give some warning signs.

The tires I race on are 6 years old.  The previous owner of them took them off his van because he didn't trust them[3years ago].  I can't remember how they ended up on my truck, but they've been holding up fine.

i love used tires theres nothing better then throwin a set of old tires on my truck and smokin them tell they pop!!!!! yeaaaaa

haha yea old tires are reallly good for burnouts  . but just make sure they are not dry rotted.
