TH-350C in TH-350
« on: September 29, 2008, 02:31:37 pm »
I have a question.  I have a 1980 chevy bonanza 4wd with a 350 and I believe a th-350.  I ordered a rebuild kit for the tranny and got one for the TH-350C.  I do not think this is correct even through they used that tranny starting in 1980.  Is there a way I can know for sure what kind of transmission I have.   There arent any ID numbers except T and 14 under it.  If I can ID it for sure is there a way I could used the kit I was mistakenly given or should I spend the time to send it back.

I think there is an electrical plug on a th350c somewhere and a th350 does not have it. I bought a shift kit for a th350 one time and put it in only for it to not have any gear but reverse when I went to drive it. At that time I didnt realize th350c transmissions existed, but thats what it turned out I had.

a th350c is a transmission that locks the torque converter up.  It has a plug on the drivers side just above the pan.  A wire connector goes in that.  It is either a 2-way or a square 4-way plug.
