Detent Cable
« on: November 13, 2008, 01:06:25 am »
Hey, I am wondering about adjusting and properly setting my detent/kickdown/throttle cable whatever it is referred to as.  I was told it must be properly set and adjusted or transmission failure could occur.  I have a 1980 chevy 1/2 ton with a th-350/350/4bl quadrajunk.   Thanks guys, wealth of knowledge

J, The kick-down on the TH350 isn't really important like it is on the 200 & 700. It only makes the transmission down shift. You can leave it off, plug the hole, ect. Now to answer your question... ;D Push the "button" down & push the Black piece around the cable (has little ridges on it) back toward the firewall. Now open the throttle all the way (it will be stiff & then you will hear click, click) it is adjusted correctly. Lorne
