« on: December 13, 2008, 08:43:01 pm »
Need pictures of lower door panels that have speakers on them so i could get a ideal how to make them. Don't want to put holes in the doors. If anybody knows any web sites that show how to make them. Would be helpful to.

This is the one that I know: http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/interior/hidden_door_speakers.htm  Still need to cut the door though.

If you do this route, use a good weatherproof speaker.  The inside of the doors can see alot of water during a rain.

Have you thought about putting the speakers in a kick panel Capt sells them in his store. This would keep you from having to cut a hole in your door and you wouldnt have to worry about getting the weatherproof speaker.

Without cutting the door, you will pretty much have to make your own out of fiberglass and give them enough volume so they will hold a speaker.

If you do install speakers in your door, Marine Waterproof would be the optimal idea if you live in a fairly wet/damp climate, but you can always go with a Moisture & Dust Baffle for behind them(Actually you would seat the speaker into the baffle, then insert them into the opening... If you need a little extra space for the speaker basket, you can get a little more room by mounting the baffles from the back/bottom of the opening).....  Most Automobile Manufacturers will have Foam Moisture/Dust Baffles in place when the vehicle is new, as they help extend the life of the Speakers, and they are a Cheap way to improve the speaker sound quality....
A full line of Foam Baffles can be found here:

I wasn't keen on cutting into my doors as well but when I went to a local stereo install shop to get a price on them to install my system, they said that the doors would be the best location since it offered a "perfect" dead air space to enhance the bass.

In the end, I installed the system myself including six inch Pioneers in the doors.  Surprisingly, the sound it awesome and I won't need to add a second pair of speakers behind the bench seat as I originally planned.

If you check out my pics you'll see the placement of my speakers.

Good Luck!
