Need Help......

Well a couple of days ago..... I was  warming my truck up on a cold day...... It overheated..... Due to water pump belt coming off( I was unaware of) Well I attempted to drive it home and got prob bout 90% home when all of a sudden it started backfiring and knocking....... Then it completley died and would not stay running...... I replaced belt and tried to start.....It is running reel rough.. So I got it towed home and checked oil and pulled spark plugs to see if I blew a head gasket.....No sign of coolant anywhere...... So i pulled valve covers to see all rockers loose and one push rod bent...... Just on driver side..... Passenger side was not that lose but not tight..... So I replaced push rod and started up engine......It stayed running and has a vibration.....Then pulled valve covers and found a broken push rod on passenger side....... I am @ a stand still...... This engine was put together by previos owner bout two weeks ago.... I am still getting details on engine.... As of now I know it is a 350 bored .60 over with 290 duration cam..... roller rockers and camel hump heads.......Any suggestions :-

The engine was put together two weeks ago?  And you ran it while it was overheating with no water pump?
I think I would've left that joker right there when you found out the fan belt was toast.  You probably have some serious problems with that engine now. Anything from spun rod/main bearings to warped heads.

The new rebulid is kaput. When that temp guage starts moving up, you gotta park it till you find the problem and fix it, which is minor. Now your problems have become major

SgtDel is right, the problem could be anything now, and none of the options are good.

I'm no engine expert...But if he spun a bearing wouldn't it be pretty easy for him to just install a new one in place if there's no damage to the crank or rod?  I thought I remember reading about people just replacing the bearing if there wasn't too much damage/clearance.

True, but if it were mine, I would be pulling it apart and checking everything. It would beat chasing your tail changing parts to no avail; and there is a lot to be said for the peace of mind that would come with knowing the engine is right.

I guess out it comes...... I wanted to look it over anyway to see what all has been done..... Might as well stroke it out now...... I got a spare 350 ready to go so I will just swap em out and take my time with this one.....Thanks for all your suggestions.....  I have always been in to stangs and modular motors ......this is all somewhat new to me..... Thanks
