Engine's Paint Scheme (opinions plz)
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:15:27 am »
As some people on here may know.  I'm swapping heads, cam, and intake on my truck.  Anyhow, make a long story short, here's my paint idea.....I have influence from watching Barrett Jackson on the stockish looks of the 60s and early 70s.  I'm yankin the motor out to do this so I want to flat black the firewall and fenderwells, reflat my fan shroud, and semigloss the frame.  Now the block, oil pan, timing cover, and heads will be Chevy Orange and clearcoated.  My valve covers are Edelbrock Powdercoated Black ones.  Intake is the Performer Vortec, with all the lettering on the intake done in chevy orange and then clearcoated.  Water Outlet will be powdercoated "black chrome" as well as the 14" air cleaner, with POSSIBLY a 350 Turbo Fire 350hp decal on top of the lid.  My brackets will be powdercoated flat black.  Pulleys also flat black, water pump will be Chevy Orange and cleared, and balancer will be black.  Headers will be recoated in black, and keep the can handy for touch ups because I think the 2000* paint will still burn off.  I'll have a brand new radiator, all new belts, hoses, and stainless steel clamps.  My dizzy will have a clear cap and rotor button, with black wires, and I'll have one of those finned transmission coolers mounted in front of the radiator with my fan redone in black.....I'm thinking this will be a great start to making my truck a sweet ride......Opinions appreciated!

sounds like it's going to be nice. If it's going to be a daily driver your going to have to clean it every day though with the orange. Every single oil leak will show up too.
