Did the guy pay with paypal? If so, then dont listen to everyone telling you that you dont have to give a refund. Cause you might, and paypal can force you to. If they feel like it they will simply pluck the funds right out of your account, and if the funds arent there you will go into the negative. Then if you dont pay what is due, it i will go on your credit. They are a bank, just like any other bank. I have forced several scammers to refund my money, by way of paypal's claim system. I am not calling you a scammer, the people i did it to either did not send me the item, (thieves) or one guy even said the item was new, when it was very clearly used. If you got a money order, (or check or something) having taken more pics and gave a more accurate description this time, i would tell the guy that he is out of luck. He should have read the description first and if those gauges that you never used did not work, then that is the gamble he took. He lost. Better luck next time, you gave him fair warning.
