motor ID

is there anything in the vin# or any other stickers/plates/stampings that will give specific info on the motor.

all it says is just what size the 8th number tells you

1987 brought changes to the model names of the C/K series, renaming them R/V.

just to change things up i mean the trucks were basically the same from 73 to 87 + for the sub and blazers so thats 14 + years of changing very little

They changed to R/V in 1987 because they had to carry over the old body style in 1988 and the new bodystyle halftons were coming out that year and would be C/K.  They did it to differentiate between them.  Same way the did a Silverado Classic" and a Silverado in 1999.

pull a valve cover and get the casting number, go to mortec, you can figure out just about everything you want to know off the head. ive got the fricking small intake valves for example.
