Tuff country shocks

I picked up a set of tuff country hydraulic shocks for my truck. Now normally when I get shocks they have a safety wire keeping them collapsed. When I got the tuff country's they were in their own box's in bags with no safety wire on them . When I took a shock out of the bag it was collapsed and I can pull the shaft out and push it back in like a regular shock would do when it's bad . I currently have 4in of lift, do you guys recommend any other shock brands or is that how these shocks come?

Yes that is how they come. They are decent shocks. Makes it a lot easier to install as well.

You should get very little Resistance when compressing shock, the first inch or two comming out will be with little to no Resistance after that you should feel some, you can not always test this by hand.
