Tried to start the truck after installing a used edelbrock carburetor

I just started it. Cranked it off and on for a minute and it started. But I ended up having to put the battery charger on 50 amp boost.
Every time I took my foot off the pedal, it would die almost instantly, but if I revved it up it sounded pretty good
Is this a throttle problem or do I need to adjust the carburetor or what?

The positive battery terminal was also smoking when I tried to start it
Possibly a battery cell separating and its smoking because its trying to pull through a dead cell?
But that shouldnt kill the engine like that I wouldnt think. Especially if it was dying even with the booster still hooked up

the bat smoking is just the load you were putting on the cable might even have a slightly bad connection at the bat. as far as the idle problem i would say your idle screw needs to be tightened a bit thats all maybe return the carb after you get the idle figured out

Turns out the 5 and 7 wires were swapped
I recall about a month and a half ago when I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires, that the two had come off. I couldve sworn the 7 went in the one spot so I didnt double check my firing order til today
I was about to sell the dang truck for scrap
