Got to get my heater working.
« on: September 20, 2009, 08:55:53 pm »
The heater on my truck is In-op. I think it has something to do with the heater/ac blower control switch. But i have put this off and not even looked into it. The control panel does not get any response out of the blower motor. But there is a constant hot that runs to the blower motor. (I found this out the hard way) but if you ground the blower motor it will run. Even with the switch in to off position, it will run until you unhook the wire that has it grounded. This is a wire i added just doing some trouble shooting, goes form the screw holding the motor in to the Negative side of the battery. But should there be a constant hot going to the motor i though constant hot should only go th the switch and there you open or close the circuit to send power to the motor?

Does the truck have AC?  The fan has constant power to it and always turns, this was a "feature" on these trucks.

If it runs on HIGH all the time, I say it is your switch.  Had one do that before.

Well I made it back home this weekend. I took a look at this issue, I did find two White that have been cut, coming out of the firewall from the heater/ac control panel there is an orange and a green wire that has been cut. there is also a dark blue, tan, light blue and black with gray stripe wire leaving the control panel these go to the blower motor resistor. I still get the same result when the fan is grounded, the motor runs wide open and that is with the ignition off and keys out. I am gonna go look at another truck tomorrow to see if i can figure out where the two cut wires go. but if anyone has a suggestion just haller.

OK well i had some time after i got off duty today to take a look. I removed the wire that was going to the motor it was a constant hot, and hooked up the Orange wire that comes from the control panel, now the blower motor will work off of the control panel, but only on one speed high on the panel but the motor runs rather slow. Anyone know what to try next there is a green wire that was ct also but it is not hot at any time. I am going back to the wire digram.
