Duel tanks

New person here, but I love my '73 C10. Last year, I wrecked my '86 C10, and I am salvaging parts. Can I add the tank to my '73. Different sides, so I can cut out the bed and add the fuel door,etc., but how and where do I get the info and hardware for the pipework, wiring, etc? Any ideas?

Sure, just find the right filler neck for your application.  My 85 has a 74 or so tank on the right side.  Simple toggle switch on the dash.  Welcome to the site from NW Indiana

Not a problem, I am cutting the left panel out of the bed of my wrecked truck, complete with filler neck and piping, but in a previous truck with saddle tanks, there was a unit that sat on the inside of the frame, and I suppose this was a "switching" unit(for the LACK OF BETTER TERMS). I guess I am asking if I need all of this or can I run two seperate tanks? Does this make any sense? I am just trying to see if this is the way to go since I only have a 16 gallon tank, and I do a lot of towing with this truck. Thanx for your replys and help.

Yeah i am looking to do the same thing with my truck, what i was thinking might be cool is to mount a blazer tank in place of the spare so i could put both filler doors on the same side, but im still unsure of the wiring, im definitely going to follow this thred

I was just thumbing through my   catalog, and I am getting a pretty good idea for the piping and the tank "switcher". I like your idea with both fillers on the same side. I am sure someone has saddle tanks and can send a picture or give some good advice. Thanx for your idea.

the switch you all are talking about is called a fuel tank selector valve and it is located just in front of the passenger side tank on the framerail I believe, could be wrong

The switching valve is on the passenger side mounted below the rear of the cab.  You can just get fuel line and bend it to meet up.  Hoses go between the hardlines for vibration reasons.  Then you need to wire the selector and add a switch.
