Not to rob this thread but yea our lighting was so awful, we had to polish the covers when we got slow one time because they were to cheap to actually install more lights ithe whole job was ridiculous I wasnt to upset to get laid off.

I checked out the Valspar tractor paint at tractor supply. they offer a low gloss black. i may go with that after seeing the good job that the guy in TX did w/this paint on his TA.

I don't know about that roll on technique, it worked for Hot Rod magazine, it probally wouldn't work for real people though.

Yea when we rolled touchup spots on aircraft the problem even with flattening agents is that it orange peels always. A foam roller would be the way to go, and also have alot of them because when painting they will fall apart.

Transtar makes foam rollers for automotive application that don't fall apart.

the problem w/rolling per the Hot Rod article is that they had to apply 7 coats and they wet sanded after every coat. could you imagine doing that on a full size pickup? they were painting a ford falcon.

LOL, no joke huh? A crew cab truck would swallow that little Ford Falcon. They had better luck with the Rustoleum rattlecan scallops!

4Chevyman,
I live in Coaling, so let me know which paint you decide to go with, I'd like to see the end product. I'm building a 75 LWB Chevy myself. I have a bed lifter and cherry picker if you need to take the bed off to get behind your cab.

Thanks for the offer, CruzbyU, but I've got a cherry picker. I have taken the truck totally apart, welded in a floor, rocker panels and cab corners from a 86 parts cab, painted the frame, and currently putting bushings and ball joints. The bed was in sad shape--- I patched rust holes behind the wheels 20 years ago, and it has rotted out again. I've got an 84 bed I'm going to use. The truck is a 76 model that my dad bought in 77 from a guy in Boaz that he worked with. It was sitting in my parents yard rotting away, so I talked my dad out of it (sans the motor and trans.). There are a ton of memories attached to the thing, so I've decided to fix it up. Wish I had taken some before pics. Will try to take some this weekend.
