axel swap
« on: February 10, 2010, 08:14:05 pm »
I starting to restore a  78 4x4 stepside.  Can I swap axels from a 87 4x4? Both are 1/2 tons

thanks

yes but you have to make sure the ratio on the new match the old, well they don't have to  match but it will mess up the speed and you will just have to set it up to ur new ratio.nothe thing ur u joints may be different not sure but if they are go to napa and they will help u out advoid autozone and advance for custom parts

If your using both axels from the 87 don't worry about the gears matching.
