in need of help on doors
« on: March 29, 2010, 01:23:05 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm need of some help on how to open a door that does not want to be openend!

This is the problem:

Today after mounting the inner door handle I closed the door the test the inner door handle. After closing the door it does not want to open any more!!! >:(
I've tried the inside handle and I see the lever engage the door lock but the door will not open. Tried the outside handle and again I see the lever engage the door lock but again I the door will not open. Tried lifting, pushing and pulling but the door still does not want to open.

I think that in some way the inside of the lock is jammed.

Does anyone has a suggestion on how to open the door?

I'll be ever thankfull

Stupid question but is the door unlocked?  If so and the door panel is off reach in and try to  pull up on the lever on the lock assembly where the outside door handle rod connects too.

I would remove the screws from the inner handle and try to open it from the outside, maybe someting on that assembly has it jammed up.

is the handle moving at all inside when you try it or is it jammed up

Problem solved!

One of the retainer clips of lock shafts had fallen of and into the lock. This jammed the lock just enough not to disengage. With an inspection mirror I could just see the top of the retainer clip, removed it and the door opened right up!
