Signal light's not working--how to fix?
« on: April 05, 2010, 03:00:48 pm »
I pulled my steering wheel and discovered the plastic cracked on my signal light switch. I got a new one, wiring harness and all.  What's the easiest way to change this?  Someone mentioned cutting the wires on the old one, tying the new switch on, and pulling everything up through the steering column.  Can anyone help me here?

I fished my old one up and the new one down from the top.  Took some fiddling and patience but wasn't too bad.  Used a coat hanger, straightened, to guide the new one.

x2 may take a little longer but you know it wont come loose after a while

The cloths hanger tip for getting the new getting the new signal light switch
down the steering column worked like a charm.  Took less than three minutes.
When I went to put the turn signal lever into the slot of the new switch, it wouldn't fit.  The slot in the plastic is too narrow.  Do I need to grind off some metal on the lever?  Also, what goes through the hole at the end of the turn signal lever and into the plastic?  Whatever was in mine is long gone.

A screw. Just to help you out some that column may be newer than the truck that maybe why it doesn't fit right
