Round 2-Big Brakes

I installed the CPP 13" big brake kit this past weekend.  Very easy install, but I had already installed the spindles at an earlier date.  With the twin 52mm pistons this kit will out stop the C5 kits.

Did you do a "before" brake test, so that now you can do an "after" brake test and give us some feedback? I trust what individual people say more than the company, of course.

You know the c5 z06 had 41mm pistons.

I have the before data just haven't had a chance to do the after.  I will most likely get it done this weekend.

These calipers have the 52mm pistons in them.  Thats why they should outstop the smaller 41mm piston C5 caliper.

Something i always wondered: Are you forever going to have to buy your replacement brake pads from that one company? I always wanted to know how people got new pads for these big bad expensive brake kits.

The calipers are off of a 99-07 Silverado.  So the pads can be purchased anywhere.

I'm gathering parts and information on a better brake system than the 87 factory brakes. Too soon to say its gona make it but I'm going do my best to make it happen.

Heres the goal.
NBS spindle or similar
NBS hub or similar (welded old bolt pattern over and new pattern laid on hub)
ls1 brake rotors and calipers

my goal is to have all parts accessible on a moments notice if I should need a part. Another advantage is having the hub over the stock rotor bearing assy is the fact you can pick wheels with no buly center caps.
One thing wierd/different is the NBS spindle. The upper ball joint is in the same orientation as the 87's but the lower ball joint on the NBS is pointing downwards.. I dont know what the advantages are but that could make things wierd. When things come together I will make my own thread and post the progress.

Well my quest for big bad brakes are over! I called CPP and got the answers I needed. The front spindles/hub is recessed 1 1/8 inches to match the rear narrow track width... not my cup of tea. I didnt choose them, infact i havent bought it yet becuase I'm waiting on a call back. The kit uses the same calipers, hubs, brake hose, 13" rotors on 2.5 drop spindles for the same price as CPP's 12" kit BUT KEEPS the factory track width... bing..

The CPP kit keeps the factory track width.  The 1 1/8" difference is when changing from a conventional drop spindle to the CPP modular drop spindle.
