no seal there but theres on on the back side of the hub, theres one  near the ring and pinion also

The back side of the hub, you talking about where the inner spindle bearing goes on? Its metal with a rubber seal and a coiled wire in it. I got that piece. I also replaced the rubber seal and metal plate that goes on the outer axle shaft. It meets up with the backside of the spindle.

I dont like the idea that there is nothing sealing the axle tube. Oh well I guess. Its odd that it looks like there should be something there, especially with the recessed lip that you can see in the first pic.

the seal is inside the diff housing right before the tube.
to change them you have to pull the diff apart.
