NV4500 Question

I have a line on an NV4500 for a decent price, but it was used behind a 6.0L V8.  my truck has a 79 350 V8.  will it still work or will I run into problems?

is it 4x2 or 4x4? other than that there will be some modding but it can and will work

well, i havent had a chance to call the guy about it.  been leary cause its needing 3rd gear syncro's, from what he says.  if its cheap to get rebuilt, i'll consider it, but still.  i'll have to get ahold of him.

if it is a 4x4 trans, what will i need to mod?

depends on what you want to do u can use a sm465 bell housing if its 93 and older if i can remember right if not it still bolts up just not sure about clutch and all. about the transfercase its on the wrong side diver side drop you will need to get a mating plate to match the passenger drop if you want 4x4

well, i was thinkin about going with that kit from advance adapters, or at least getting some thing from that kit, like the bellhousing, and the t-case adapter.  my truck is an 86, so i know there's work to be done.  my question is more about the tranny itself...  basically, will i need to change anything with the tranny or will it work as is?  like, i know you cant use a diesel trans behind a gas, cause the gears are different, as well as the input shaft.  thats my main concern, will all this work behind my 350?  if so, then i may look further into this trans.

im not sure about how much work but it doesnt matter if its a diesl or gas trans

really?  see, ive heard both accounts of this now....  some say the diesel trans has a different gearing than the gas trans, and that the input shaft is different.  and then some say there is no difference at all.  can i get an official ruling here?

sorry to ask dumb questions, but, i just dont wanna go an blow a ton of money just to find out i bought the wrong parts, ya know what i mean?

I can’t think of why it would be different there’s no spine/ shaft that goes from the engine to the transmission
