Serpentine conversion question...
« on: September 02, 2010, 10:06:37 pm »
Hey guys whats up, i got a question for whoever has done the the serpentine conversion from junkyard parts.
I got all the parts to do it but kinda stumped on installing it. Can any body show the setup on their truck, my motor is a '79 or 80 and does not have the 3 holes on the pass. side

A late model engine should have three holes for mounting the brackets, two upper and one lower.  I got my serpentine system from a 86 S-10 pick up.  Here are a couple of pictures that might help.

Hey Grover thanks, i just had to make sure. So i guess i will not be able to mount the set up on my motor without switching heads, cuz on the pass. side i only have 1 top hole. I wonder if there is another way without going head hunting. ???

See if maybe the rear of the drivers side head has the 3 holes...  if it does, you can swap the heads around left for right.  They may be an old head swap.  I think around 70 or so they made all the heads with the accessory holes like in the pic.  I've never seen a head with one hole like yours.  could someone have filled the holes in at some point?

my chevelle has the same problem and its a late 70's motor and heads and also my buddies 85 motor, all 3 have only 1 accesorry bolt hole for the alternator bolton the outside.  The other forum 67-72 trucks one guy had the same thing and he just drilled and tapped a hole for the inside. Is that even possible, isnt the ports right there?  ???
