To get the 205 to mate to the TH400 with out an adapter kit you will have to tear it down, and swap in an input shaft from a 205 that was originally mated to a TH400, or a later SM465. Lots of labor but the input shaft is most likely still available new, or could be found used easy enough. One plus to this is you could replace any worn bushings / bearings while your in there.
Is there two U bolts on the right side of the front axle or is it one U bolt and two studs with nuts that hold the spring plate down?

Thank Irish_Alley that's great info, I just might buy the cheap kit for the 203 to get me by untill I can get the parts for my 205 or one that fits. Now there is a half inch of play in the 203 is that a norm ?  Blazin if I can find the parts cheap or a 205 for a 400 that will be the way. Is shiping gonna be worth it I live in Owen Sound  it's slim pickins here, but I'll call around on Tuesday I have called scrap yards around here before and there is only one truck 2x4, not much good to me, other then odd's and end's. Things that where better then mine I took. Now as for the front and rear end's are they better then what I have, should I save them and use them later. do I need to use them with the 203 untill I get a 205 that works. Can I swap hub's,  I know what your asking but I'll send pictures. my good truck has blue cheepoo shock and hurten 350 and the other is my rotten part's rude..other then that 350.  And thanks every one its nice to know there's people out there that dont judge a book by cover but what we drive.....

Thinking that the front axle isn't a Dana 60 but still hard to tell without seeing the cover, and the way the springs are held to the axle. 3/4 ton stuff is a little stronger generally, typical a little lower gears too, but could be the same. Best way to tell the gear ratio is to pop the covers off and count the teeth on the ring, and the pinion gears. Then divide the pinion number into the ring number.

All my 60s came with studs, and nuts. The angle of that pic its hard to tell. Thinking its not though. Make it a K20.
