flowmaster exhaust
« on: September 15, 2010, 12:15:13 am »
What type of flowmaster exhaust should I put on my 79 k10?  It is a street truck 2.5 inch lift and I just want it to sound strong and really nice / clean.  It has a 350 small block, and where is the best place to find them for a good $.  Oh, I have duel headers on it also.

From what I've heard, Flowmasters are actually pretty restrictive, but I love the sound of dual 40s. I'm trying to find some alternative mufflers that would be a bit louder than stock right now without them being too overbearing. I'd like to go with Gibson or Magnaflow but have not heard them.

i'm pretty happy with my flows, but then again i have nothing else to compare them to so i can't comment solidly on how restrictive/not restrictive they are.   i've found them to be too loud at first but i've basically gotten used to it.  Also, i have a custom deluxe which means no insulation so that may be a factor as well.

I've got true dual 40 series flowmasters on my 77 and I LOVE it! I don't notice any restrictions with it and they sound great to me!! :)

They are going to be more restrictive than a magnaflow type muffler, but the sound does not compare. I have dual 40 series flowmasters and I love it. If you want it a little quieter, you can run a single flowmaster with a dual outlet, or run 40 series delta flows. You tube will have many different videos, make sure you read the description to see what setup they have.
