vent windows
« on: January 09, 2011, 06:05:22 pm »
I'm working on putting new window run channels in my doors. In the process, I decided to take out the wing vent assembly to clean out the bottom part of the track. In doing so, I realized my rubber seals around the glass were cracked worse than I realized.I'm going to hit the boneyard and see if I can find a decent set there before I buy the expensive gasket set. Does anyone know if everything from 73-87 interchanges? Thanks in advance

I believe all the vent windows are the same. There may be a slight difference in mounting holes.   Truck sells a side window replacement kit that does away with the vents but they're pretty pricey

I would look for Doors in 73-76....77-80....81-87 I know the Doors changed in 77 due to the power window option. Physically they will fit the cab, Just as the other years will..But there is a difference. Don't quote me on this, but I think the 77-80 didn't have the locking wing and the 81-87 did. I would probably be looking for 77-87 Wing Vent, unless you have a 73-76.

I looked in my   truck book they are showing the seals to be different. 73-80 are different from 81-87. Sorry for the bogus info.

I have to clear this up, both of my posts have the name of another parts catalog deleted from them. I should have known not to list the name of another catalog on the site. My mistake.

Thanks guys! Great site and info! ;D If I understand the posts... if I find something from 73-87... it should fit, just might be some minor differences? I guess I didn't say in my original post, but I have an 80 c-10 swb. Thanks!

I have 2 extra 89-91 passenger side vent windows, I'd give you one.  Where are you in Ohio?

goatman,
I live in Bolivar which is about 15 miles South of Canton. I appreciate the offer! I'd be willing to pay the shipping or work something out.

If I'm not mistaken there is 1 piece seals and 2 piece seals depending on the year. But if your going to replace the seals you might just want to go ahead and check on new if you have alot of noise and whatnot. That's alot of work to just put used seals back in.
