Kind of a weird topic
« on: October 31, 2010, 09:24:12 pm »
Do the 3/4 ton C series trucks seem to be taller than my C10? My dad's 2wd dually seems a lot taller looking at it and other similar duallies. I'd love to convert my truck into a dually using a 3/4 ton frame and rear axle but not sure if I should.
I'm pretty sure my truck isn't lowered, I'd like it to be a bit taller for bigger tires. I already know there really aren't any options for a C10 pickup, but I'm wondering why it seems to be that the 3/4 ton trucks look taller. I know my tires aren't that big but it still looks lower than it should. I was comparing my truck to my friend's Cummins powered C20 and his still looks taller.
Here's my dad's truck:

I also would like Alcoas on my truck. I loved those rims. Here's mine:

Different springs is about all the difference in c10s and c20 now a c30 would be a different frame but it’s all about the springs

I thought the C20 frame was boxed? I never looked exactly at my friend's frame but I thought for sure the C20 he has is a boxed frame. I know mine isn't.

I thought the frames were taller? Like 1 1/2 for the 3/4 and 1 tons?

So pretty much the 1/2 ton and 3/4 tons have the same exact frame? What makes a 3/4 ton different than the 1/2 ton other than badges?

This is out of the Chevy Shop Manual
only the "C" measurment is different
http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/framespecs.html

Something I have around here says the 3/4 ton frame is a bit thicker than the 1/2 ton frame.  and then the 1 ton frame is thicker than the 3/4 ton frame.

Part of me really wants to find a 1-ton frame for my truck, but part of me also doesn't want to bother.

What about the heavy half? I thought they had 3/4 springs, but then it'd be a c-20

All normal practicality and rational money handling goes out of the window when it comes to my truck.

Not sure I think they just have heaver 1/2 ton springs just not 3/4 springs if that makes any sense
