Holley 570 rebuild???
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:08:37 pm »
has anyone done a rebuild on a holley 570 carb? by rebuild i mean i bought a rebuild kit from summit and am gonna try it myself. i have a 570 street avenger dual feed holley. the kit is surposed to have those weird things called directions with it. just wanted to see if anyone has bought one of these kinda kits and if they had any success with it? i am pretty sure my carb is giving me my problems, it boggs and coughs when i try to get going, just for a secod and they it catches and goes good. someone had said it might be a spring in the secondary? i know next to nothing about carbs.   thanks

You still need to change the spring in the secondary. It is 2 screws, the cap is black, take out the lighter spring inside and replace with the black spring that came with the carb. If you have the wrong spring in there it won't matter if you rebuild it or not you will still always have a problem.

i can probably order that spring from somewhere right? i didn't buy the carb, it was on the truck when i bought it. it should be a black spring you say. so if i don't have a black spring i'll hunt one down if i do have a black spring what else might it be?  thanks

You can order a spring kit from summit or jegs. They are color coded and the one you want is the black spring. Try that first as it is most likely the culprit. You might also be able to get it locally from a speed shop or in the speed aisle of a local auto parts store.
