1987 Left rear fender with square gas
« on: November 15, 2010, 01:25:21 pm »
Forgive me please if this is a repeat post.  I searched for fenders and didn't see anything along this lines.  I am in need of trying to track down a left rear stepside fender with square fuel door.  I know I can find the right rear fender with square fuel as a reproduction part but the left one is harder then a needle in the haystack.  I have only began to call the salvage yards across the country but was hoping maybe someone out there may have a lead on something or can help point me in the right direction.  Thank you for any information that you may give.

Not made.  GM had them up until about 4 years ago and it was discontinued.

I had the same problem and all I can say is good luck to ya! I had to buy a pass sidefender (step side) and I just move my tank over. the tank part was simple but Now I am having trouble getting the rubber hose part of the tank. I also and having a problem finding the part inside the fender where the gas cap section bolts to it. Not sure if this helped or not, but good luck to ya

well another option I thought of was to buy a reproduction one without the square fuel and have it cut out just enough to replace the original one that is rusted out in the back.  dual tanks are both in excellent shape and the hoses, etc.  just the darn fender is out.

I have the same problem, I need a driver side step fender. Only thing to do I suppose is buy a new one and weld in the new square setup.

I had the same problem, on my 85. I got lucky and found a complete rust free Bed for $300 off an 82. I also noticed a difference in the Gas inserts, my 85 has a plastic cup insert and the 82 has a metal one. I'm working on getting the 85 fenders rebuilt. The arches had rotted where they bolt to the Bedsides.

Good luck!

Rob.
