1989 Suburban 1500 Lift?
« on: December 07, 2010, 01:23:43 pm »
Just purchased a 1989 Suburban 1500 Silverado 4wd 350 all stock with what I believe to be a factory tow package - tranny cooler, overload spring on the rear, and dual front shocks. Anyone have any information or experience with a 4 inch lift that would work on this rig. Most lift packages that I have been looking for have single shocks in the front. Are the shock lengths different in the front compared to a single shock setup? Could the overload spring be incorperated back into the rear larger or lifted springs? I plan on towing some with the Suburban and would like to have the overload spring option. What about a 4 inch block on the rear keeping factory spring setup? Any reccomendations or experience with this setup?

And I know this site is 73-87 but the Suburbans fall into the straight axle club until 92

It is understood that the site covers 73-87(91) trucks.
Any lift that works for a regular truck will work for the Burb.  I would avoid blocks.

With a 4 in left I would get front springs and do a shackle flip in the rear and retain your factory spring, while still getting the 4in lift.
