I have 1979 GMC K1500 that I have been working on. Its been running great, but after I ran it all day Sunday, I turned the engine off and after sitting twenty minutes the truck had no power at the key. The headlights, tag lights, ect...are working. When the key is set to the
"on" position, none of the dash gauges nor warnings lights will work. I checked the battery and the voltage and ground are fine. Is the next check the ignition switch? I have had three different times where the ignition failed, but I would play with the shifter...adjusting it to the park position... and it would start. Now the truck will do nothing in "park" nor 'neutral". I'm thinking the shifter adjustment was just a coincidence and the ignition switch was just starting to fail.
